Chicken Mushroom
AKA Chicken of the Woods
Season: July - October
Peak Quality: Fall
Chicken of the Woods is by far one of the most versitile mushrooms the forest has to offer. When found at the peak of freshness, after cooking the texture is so consistent with cooked chicken meat that it has earned it's well deserved name. Truely a vegetarians friend, this excellent mushroom a can be treated exactly like chicken meat. Outstanding when marinated and grilled!
